About Us...
Sybil Blazej-Yee grew up in Vermont and came to Southern California in 1978. She earned a BFA in Art History, a Master's in Library Science and a Master's in Clinical Psychology. Sybil has been writing since childhood and has always been doing some kind of art. She has been learning to paint watercolors with artist Ron Libbrecht. Sybil collaborated with Tally Yee on the photographs for this and her first book, The Honey Boy Story. Read about the first book (about a lost kitten) at www.nose2nose.net. Sybil's niece, Kit Blazej, at age ten, provided the pencil drawings of Watson.
Sybil has worked in libraries for years and believes that every library should have a cat! Hmmm....Having a lifelong love of cats, Sybil developed a love of dogs when she became a dog walker. She has been lucky to get to know Gordie, Watson and other dogs in this book. The love, kindness and support from friends and family when Watson went missing was most appreciated! Thanks to the real Gail.
Tally Yee graduated with an AA degree in photojournalism and served as photographer in the US Army. Next came a career as a graphic artist that has continued to the present.
His diverse work experience was brought to bear as photo editor of both books. Tally's on-going education with graphics software and his love for animals resulted in the creation of this website. Tally loved cats and dogs from an early age and while living in Venice, California, fed and rescued many cats.
Tally is passionate for other arts as well. He taught himself to play harmonica, "but I had to take
lessons for guitar." He plays djembe at drum circles (come join us) and has performed in doumbek ensembles. Tally has been a collage artist for many years. Both he and Sybil were former members of
the San Pedro Art Association and are current members of an informal writer's club. Tally trys to maintain his writing creativity by tweeting from the viewpoint of a cat and of a dog.
Currently, Tally is working part time at Centinela Feed enjoying the company of pets and their owners.
Copies of The Honey Boy Story are donated monthly to a local pet adoption group. The Heads 2 Tails Foundation receives the books and places them in the care package that goes home with each adopted cat or kitten.
